Can beta-amylase (E-BARBP / E-BARBL) be used to analyse alpha-amylase by ASBC-method?

Modified on Tue, 22 Mar, 2016 at 9:47 AM

We recommend the use of the Megazyme product E-BARBP (beta-amylase, powder form) for the preparation of beta-limit dextrin. The EBC alpha-amylase method recommends the use of 250 mg of beta-amylase at 2000 degrees Lintner.  The Megazyme product is 5000 degrees Lintner, so 100 mg is used (instead of 250 mg) to prepare the beta-limit dextrin.  This enzyme preparation has been evaluated and approved by a special committee of ASBC (following interlaboratory evaluation).
