This material dissolves in hot water. There may be a bit of turbidity, and this should be removed by centrifugation. This material is not as pure as the other mixed-linkage beta-glucans we supply – the material from barley is ~ 97% pure. The major contaminant in lichenan is a glucan, but it is not starch or glycogen; we believe that it is 1,3-alpha-D-Glucan (isolichenan).
What is the procedure for making solutions of lichenan (P-LICHN)?
