What are the major differences between the various Acetic Acid test kits?

Modified on Mon, 24 May, 2021 at 9:48 AM

Megazyme produces 5 acetic acid test kits:

K-ACET: uses the traditional Acetyl CoA synthetase (ACS) reaction. Positive reaction (increasing absorbance). Does not use an end-point reaction. Manual format for use with spectrophotometers.

K-ACETRM: uses the more recently developed and more rapid acetate kinase (AK) reaction with an end-point reaction. Less component additions and more tests per kit. Negative reaction (decreasing absorbance). Manual format for use with spectrophotometers.

K-ACETAF: uses the traditional Acetyl CoA synthetase (ACS) reaction. Positive reaction (increasing absorbance). Automated format for use with auto-analysers or microplate.

K-ACETAK: uses the more recently developed and more rapid acetate kinase (AK) reaction. Negative reaction (decreasing absorbance). Automated format for use with auto-analysers or microplate.

K-ACETGK: uses the most recently developed and more rapid ADP-GK reaction with AK. It is a positive reaction and therefore more robust. Automated format for use with auto-analysers.
