Why is 0.5 mg/mL BSA added to the extraction buffer in K-XylX6?

Modified on Thu, 30 Sep, 2021 at 12:05 PM

BSA (Bovine serum albumin) is added to the enzyme dilution buffer as BSA can act as a stabiliser in dilute enzyme solutions, adding protein which can increase the stability of some enzymes.

If you choose to leave out the BSA from the buffer, the enzyme may have slightly reduced enzyme activity.
