Is it necessary to perform step B of the Sequential/High Sensitivity Lactose Assay Kit (K-LOLAC) method?

In most dairy products, lactose is remove by hydrolysis of the lactose to glucose and galactose and therefore there will be high levels of glucose. Therefore it is necessary to remove the glucose using the GOX/catalase step.

It may be possible to not perform the GOX/catalase step only if a sample does not contain high level of free glucose.
