We do not deal with alcohol degrees as there is some variation with the way it can be calculated.
In the US the degrees proof of an liquid is double the percentage of alcohol. In France this differs in that a liquid with 40% alcohol per volume equates to 40 degrees GL. And in the UK it is also calculated different - 100% alcohol proof equates to 57.1 % ethanol per volume.
Therefore measuring in % v/v is more universally recognised and consistent than measurement in degrees.
