Knowledge Base Home FAQs || FAQs Polysaccharides β-Glucan (P-BGBL, P-BGCFA, P-MWBGS, P-BGOH, P-BGOM, P-BGYST)

What method do you use for determining molecular weights of beta-glucan (barley and oat)? Do you have standards with molecualr weights greater than 250 Kd?

Modified on: Wed, 5 May, 2021 at 4:33 PM

The highest MW beta-glucan we can produce is about 350,000 daltons.  We know higher values are reported but have not seen them in our samples, no matter how careful we are in preparing the polymer.  Our MW’s are determined at VTT by laser light scattering.
