Is there any limitation to the type of sample or the degree of Starch Damage which can be measured using the Starch Damage Assay Kit (K-SDAM)?

The Starch Damage Assay Kit (K-SDAM) can be used to measure the degree of starch damage in any material, so it is applicable to all samples. The only likely complication occurs when the degree of damage is more than 10%. In this case, the solution after centrifugation at step 6, must suitably diluted further (usually 2-fold) with 0.2% sulphuric acid and the assay repeated from step 7 of the procedure. This dilution should be accounted for in the final calculation (page 6) or in the ‘dilution’ column in the accompanying Megacalc available on the product webpage.
