Can the K-TSTA assay kit be used to test the level of starch in the whole Maize Plant?

The Total Starch (AA/AMG) Total Starch (AA/AMG) (K-TSTA) test kit is used for the measurement and analysis of total starch in cereal flours and food products.

It would be suitable for the measurement of starch in maize plant. We usually recommend samples are freeze dried and milled to pass a 0.5mm screen prior to analysis.

The choice of the correct procedure will be extremely important and may require some optimisation in your laboratory.

You will be able to tell if your sample contains resistant starch (if not already known) by running both method (A) and method (B) - if you observe an increased result with method (B) then you can conclude that your sample contains resistant starch.
