What is difference between β-Glucan (Yeast & Mushroom) Assay Kit (K-YBGL) and Yeast Beta-Glucan Assay Kit (K-EBHLG)?

β-Glucan (Yeast & Mushroom) Assay Kit (K-YBL) is suitable for the measurement and analysis of 1,3:1,6-beta-glucan, 1,3-β-glucan and α-glucan in yeast, mushroom (fungi), algae and higher plants preparations.

Please note this method is not applicable to the analysis of 1,3:1,6 β-glucan in the presence of cellulose (1,4-β-D-glucan).

We also supply the Enzymatic Yeast Beta-Glucan Assay Kit (K-EBHLG), an enzymatic procedure for the measurement and analysis of 1,3:1,6-beta-glucan in yeast products, which have typically been extracted and prepared under acid/alkaline conditions. This kit measures 1,3-β-glucan as well. The kit is not applicable to measurement of beta-glucan in mushroom products. This is believed to be due to crosslinking of the glucan to chitin and protein.

The K-YBGL method should be used for analysis of β-glucan in mushrooms.
