Is it possible to analyse samples containing fat with the Amylose/Amylopectin kit (K-AMYL)?

For samples with greater than 10% fat we recommend de-fatting the sample prior to the actual analysis, as high fat content may affect the performance of the kit.

Samples can be defatted with petroleum ether (3 times with 25 mL portions/g test sample) before milling. A loss of weight due to fat removal should be recorded and appropriate correction should be made to final % amylose found in the determination.
